Delhi HC warns Google, Facebook to follow Indian laws or face blockage

The Delhi High Court has warned Google and Facebook tocomply and devise a mechanism to control objectionable content, or they justmight be blocked in the country.

Both companies cited exemption from liability and said thatthey don’t control or administer the content on the websites but are 100 percent subsidiaries of the parent companies based in the US. Facebook and Googleshifted the onus of monitoring obscene imagery online on to Internet ServiceProviders in India such as Bharti Airtel, BSNL and Reliance, saying that undertheir license conditions they are liable to block it.
